Ribeira do Velho can carry a good flow, but it is very slippery and, because of the dwellings upstream, extremely contaminated with rubbish and dead animals. It is not a canyon to recommend to anyone.

Official notes
Because of the houses upstream there is rubbish in the stream. R1 and R2 are small rappels done from trees. R3 has only a single anchor point (C13 m). R4 has an old anchor (C26 m).
Anchors, flow and access change with every storm and every winter. Treat the current status as a snapshot and check the latest conditions before any descent.
