Absolutely! Level 2 is specifically designed for complete beginners with no previous canyoning experience. The physical demands are minimal, rappels are low (maximum 15 meters), and we've never had anyone unable to complete a Level 2 canyon. Our professional guides provide full instruction and support throughout, making it the perfect introduction to canyoning in Madeira.
Can children do Level 2 canyoning?
Yes! Children from 10 years old can participate in Level 2 canyoning. It's an excellent family activity that's safe and accessible for kids. The low difficulty level, multiple safety exits, and gentle rappels make it ideal for families. Many parents find Level 2 is a great way to introduce children to adventure sports in a controlled, safe environment.
Do I need to be fit for Level 2 canyoning?
No special fitness level is required for Level 2. If you can walk comfortably for an hour and feel okay swimming in pools, you'll be fine. The physical demands are very low - we've successfully guided people of all fitness levels, including those who are not sportive or less active. Level 2 is accessible to almost everyone.
What if I'm scared during the Level 2 tour?
Level 2 canyons have multiple easy exit points midway through, so you can leave if uncomfortable. The rappels are gentle (maximum 15 meters) and guides provide constant support and encouragement. Most nervous beginners find they gain confidence quickly because everything is very manageable. You're always doubly secured with safety systems, and guides will never pressure you beyond your comfort zone.
How long does a Level 2 canyoning tour take?
The complete Level 2 experience is a half-day activity. You'll spend approximately 2 hours inside the canyon. Including equipment preparation, transport to/from the canyon, safety briefing, and the canyon descent itself, expect the total experience to last around 3-4 hours. This gives plenty of time for learning, safety checks, and enjoying the experience at a relaxed pace.
What's included in the Level 2 canyoning price?
Level 2 tours include all safety equipment (wetsuit, harness, helmet), certified professional guides, transport to and from the canyon, comprehensive insurance, detailed safety briefing and instruction, professional photos and videos of your adventure, post-tour refreshments, and a small group experience with maximum 8 participants. Everything you need is provided.
What should I bring for Level 2 canyoning?
Just bring swimwear to wear under the wetsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and a water bottle. We provide all gear including canyoning shoes, wetsuit, helmet, and harness — you don't need to bring any canyoning equipment. Optionally bring a change of clothes for after. Don't bring valuables or anything you can't leave in the transport vehicle during the activity.
