Booking & Tours FAQ

Common questions about booking your canyoning adventure

Booking is easy! You can reserve your tour through WhatsApp (+351 963 028 635), email (santos@madeiraclimbingcenter.com), or by contacting us through our website. We recommend booking at least 2-3 days in advance, especially during peak season (June-September). We'll confirm your booking, provide meeting point details, and answer any questions you have about the tour.
All our canyoning tours include professional certified guide, all technical equipment (wetsuit, helmet, harness, ropes), safety briefing and instruction, accident insurance, and transportation to/from the canyon when needed. Some tours also include photos/videos of your adventure. You only need to bring swimwear, towel, water, and appropriate footwear. Check specific tour details for exact inclusions.
Yes! We offer private tours for individuals, couples, families, or groups. Private tours provide personalized attention, flexible scheduling, and the ability to go at your own pace. They're ideal for special occasions, photography, or if you prefer an exclusive experience. Contact us for private tour pricing and availability.
We understand plans change. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable unless due to weather or safety concerns decided by our guides. If we cancel due to weather, you'll receive a full refund or can reschedule. Weather conditions are monitored continuously for your safety.
For first-timers, we recommend Ribeira das Cales or Ribeiro Frio (Level 2-3 canyons). These beginner-friendly canyons offer exciting waterfalls, natural pools, and jumps while being accessible to those without prior experience. Your guide will assess your comfort level and adjust the route accordingly. If you're more adventurous and have good fitness, Ribeira Funda (Level 3) is also an excellent first canyon.
Total tour duration is typically 4-6 hours including transportation, gear setup, safety briefing, and the canyon descent itself. The actual time in the canyon varies by difficulty: beginner canyons (2-3 hours), intermediate canyons (3-4 hours), advanced canyons (4-6 hours). We'll provide specific timing when you book. Always allow extra time and don't schedule tight connections afterward.
Safety is our priority. We monitor weather and water levels continuously. If conditions are unsafe, we'll contact you to reschedule or provide a full refund. Light rain doesn't typically affect tours (you're getting wet anyway!), but heavy rain, storms, or high water levels may require cancellation. We make these decisions based on decades of local experience and always err on the side of safety.
